Tinbasher's tool for removing the seal around the gear selector

 

 

 

 

The over all length is 6 inches   150mm  the inside of the hook is 6mm

it made from 2mm piano wire and the hook is ground fairly flat (Thin)

to make it easy to slide between the shaft and seal , what you do is slide it in and rotate

it 90 then tug on the seal , you may have to slide it around a few times to get the seal

to slide out evenly , you should be able to buy a piece of piano hinge from your local hardware store

and remove the pin, you may be able to see the tack weld on the handle , you could silver solder that as well .
